7th President (2009-2010)

Yvan Robitaille is the son of Louis-Philippe and Jeanne Breton, the grandson of Pierre-Napoléon and Noémie Roy. He was born in Sainte-Foy in 1940, studied in Sainte-Foy, worked in Sainte-Foy, married a daughter of Sainte-Foy and now lives his retirement between Sainte-Foy and Saint-Ferréol. Above all, don't think that Yvan never left Sainte-Foy...

Traveling became his passion from the age of 16. Thanks to study and research scholarships, he was able to live in Europe, Africa, Asia and, of course, Central and South America.

Yvan comes from a family of musicians, but his piano studies ended abruptly at the age of 8 when he was kicked out of his piano lessons. Moreover, his grandfather would have died while singing high mass at the church of Sainte-Foy and several of his uncles, aunts, cousins ​​and cousins ​​are seasoned musicians. From 8 to 11 years old, Yvan sang in the church choir and was also a mass server until the age of 15. Subsequently, God, in his infinite goodness, would have exempted him from Sunday mass until he was 77 years old.

At 20, he was the manager and co-owner of a car rental company for 7 years. During these years, he continued his studies at Laval University with a bachelor's degree in pedagogy and obtained his license in secondary education in 1968. He then left Sainte-Foy to continue his studies at the École Normale Supérieure in France.

After further studies in geography and rural engineering at McGill University and the University of Paris, he began a 35-year career as a teacher at Cégep de Sainte-Foy. It was about time he stopped studying and got to work… Yvan's years of work were interspersed with extended stays in various parts of the world, as much to work, study or live. other cultural experiences. He has benefited greatly from the wonderful deferred treatment program…

Yvan speaks and writes in several languages: French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. He is familiar with Euro-Asian languages, except Chinese, and gibberish Italian and German. His knowledge of languages ​​allows him to travel the world for extended periods. He brings back in his luggage souvenirs and above all, photos. Besides, it has a collection of 5000 slides.

A fairly high-level sportsman (he says so), he practices sliding sports on snow (skiing and snowboarding), sailing and cycling. Yvan is particularly proud to have contributed to the recognition of the exceptional site of Baie-de-Beauport as a place of recreation for future generations. Music, mainly choral singing, and reading occupy another part of his universe. He is also a great leader (he says so) and we have had proof of this on several occasions during meetings or gatherings.

Yvan has a very developed family spirit. He is particularly proud of his grandchildren and has no embarrassment in saying that they are the most beautiful and the nicest. Could he be a doting grandfather, by any chance? His grandchildren share with their grandfather the passion for travel and are excellent extreme sportsmen on both snow and water. Yvan even improvised as a driving instructor for his 12-year-old grandson...

It was in 2006 that Yvan joined the Board of Directors of the Robitaille Families Association. As soon as he arrived, he got involved as vice-president for 3 years and, in 2009, he presided over the destinies of our Association for 1 year. During these years, Yvan particularly appreciated the endless meetings... In 2012, after two more years as vice-president, he bowed out (so he thought). According to the statutes of our Association, a former president is attached to his Association for life, by becoming a Commander.
